I am a senior research fellow in the Centre for Integrative Physiology at the University of Edinburgh. I am a neuroendocrinologist - I’m interested in how the brain controls feeding and sexual behaviour, and how environmental factors like diet, obesity and stress can impact on these behaviours. We use translational models to study signalling between the brain and body, with a focus on electrophysiological, optogenetic and behavioural approaches.
In Nudge-it we will use models of early-life stress, food snacking and positive mood to investigate their effects on food choice. I will work closely with scientists at UGOT to achieve this, as well as with computational neuroscientists here in Edinburgh. I have also established a strong collaboration with behavioural economists at UEDIN and we will work in parallel to better understand how our findings may translate into human decision-making processes.
