Dr Valeria Skafida is a distinguished early career researcher working within public health and medical sociology. She secured competitive ESRC funding to undertake doctoral studies, and has since obtaining her PhD been awarded a highly competitive (success rate 5%) 3-year British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship (c. £300k). She is currently a Lecturer in Social Policy at the University of Edinburgh.
Her research involves longitudinal analysis of national survey data to look at how children’s diets change during the early years, and at links between parental use of nutrition advice and children’s dietary quality. She has 6 first-authored publications (4-sole author) in top peer-reviewed journals and is building an excellent publication portfolio.
